Mr. Currens comes to the Building and Fire Research Laboratory after having spent seven years in the Advanced Technology Program (now the Technology Innovation Program) as a program manager and economist. He also served as Senior Advisor to the ATP Director for about 15 months and is currently on a short term detail to NIST's Office of Technology Partnerships where he is leading the efforts of the Interagency Working Group on Technology Transfer (IWGTT). Before joining NIST, Mr. Currens worked as an auditor in the Office of the Inspector General at both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and in the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Salomon Brothers Inc. Mr. Currens holds a master's degree in Public Administration (2007) from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and an MBA (1999) from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. He graduated magna cum laude from Mount Saint Mary's College, Emmitsburg, MD, with a bachelor's degree (1987) in accounting (major) and finance (minor). |
