Dr. Franaszek joined the Construction Metrology and Automation Group in 2006 as a Physical Scientist. His current work includes the development of numerical algorithms used in processing data from 3D Imaging systems, object recognition from range images, improvement of registration procedures, and methods for characterizing point uncertainty in a point cloud. Prior to joining NIST, Dr. Franaszek worked as a Staff Scientist at NIH on medical image processing. His research focused on colon segmentation for CT colonography and feature extraction for automated polyp detection. Dr. Franaszek received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Molecular Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan. His research included simulation of chaotic dynamic systems in a presence of noise. He is co-author of one approved and one pending U.S. patent in medical image processing. |
