			Mr. Scott graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2003. In 2007 he received his M.S. in Aerospace Engineering while working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the University of Maryland’s Space Systems Laboratory. His research focused on the design and implementation of a real-time obstacle avoidance scheme to avoid camera occlusion for visually guided robotic manipulators. Prior to joining NIST full-time in 2007, Mr. Scott was an undergraduate co-op student in the Construction Metrology and Automation Group (CMAG) from 2002 to 2004. His work focused on software development for the NIST Construction Automation Testbed to control a robotic crane and track components in the worksite. Mr. Scott is currently researching systems that can be used to automate the construction industry. His efforts focus on software engineering for robotic systems including manipulators, mobile robots, and advanced 3D imaging systems.
